Trivia / Parker

Go To

  • Creator's Favorite Episode: Though he was quick to praise other adaptations, Westlake believed that Robert Duvall's performance as Earl Macklin in The Outfit was closest to the Parker of the book series.
  • In Memoriam: The movie is dedicated to Westlake.
  • Playing Against Type: Westlake was well known for writing far more humorous crime novels, and came up with the pseudonym Richard Stark to prevent people from going into these books with false expectations.
    • Well, no. The first Parker book was published in 1962, and the first funny Westlake book in 1965.
  • What Could Have Been:
Westlake: If I'd known I was gonna write book after book about him, there's two things I would have done differently about his name. I would have given him a first name, which I never did and it eventually became too late, and I probably wouldn't have called him Parker. Because I've had almost thirty books of trying to figure out other ways to say 'Parker parked the car.'
