- Creator Backlash: As said in the main article, Cussler didn't want to publish this book, as he considered it to be of very low quality. He eventually did under his friends's insistence, though not without adding an author's note in which he explains it.
- What Could Have Been:
- Delphi's surname was originally Ea, but it was changed to Moran in a rewrite.
- Cussler also intended to make Delphi survive and return in Mediterranean Caper in order to make him a sort of Arch-Enemy to Pitt, which is the reason why his "death scene" is open enough to make him possible to return with just some facial scars. However, Cussler changed his mind at some point and replaced him with Bruno Von Till. It's unknown whether Summer was slated to return as well.
