- Box Office Bomb: Reported production budget: $50 million. Worldwide gross: $37.8 million. The difficult release conditions led to it opening with Invisible Advertising in much of the world, including opening against Creed III in the opening weekend in North America.
- Distanced from Current Events: The film had already been pushed forward due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but then the Russian invasion of Ukraine caused nearly a year on The Shelf of Movie Languishment, given the filmmakers thought it would be in bad taste to issue a movie with Ukrainian henchmen. Even then, when the movie came out in 2023, a theatrical release in the U.S. was delayed to March.
- Dueling Works: Had it not been delayed until 2023, it would've been this to The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (which released in the first quarter of 2022), with both being comedy spy films in which a Hollywood actor is enlisted as a mole to investigate a criminal superfan. Both films did poorly at the box office and didn’t make their budgets back but Unbearable Weight managed to get critical praise while Operation Fortune fared worse with critics and got mixed reviews.
- The Shelf of Movie Languishment: The film was originally scheduled for the first quarter of 2022 amid COVID-related delays. And then the Russian invasion of Ukraine made it be pulled from schedule for feeling insensitive to issue a movie featuring Ukrainian henchmen. The movie hit international theaters in 2023, initially skipping North America until March and not being released in its native UK until April.
