• What Could Have Been: Andrew Bowser stated in an interview that he originally envisioned the film as a bloody "Onyx in Evil Dead" flick where almost the entire cast was killed in a gory fashion. However, as work on the script progressed, Bowser drew more inspiration from his real life friends and loved ones, which caused him to become more attached to the characters and the cast—and, subsequently, to take the film in a lighter, more comedic direction. (Bowser stated that this also felt tonally appropriate, as Onyx the character is relatively innocent and has an adolescent mindset.)
  • Originally, Bowser planned to film the movie's climax at an actual cemetery. The production crew was unable to get permission, and instead created "Forest Hill Cemetery" on a set (which turned out to be more elaborate than the real life location).
