• Dawson Casting: This is common in anime about teenage girls, but Arisa's seiyuu downplays this trope by being 13 while Arisa is 12. Akiko's seiyuu inverts this by being 14 while Akiko is 16. Otherwise played straight; Akiko's twin brother is voiced by a 25-year-old man.
• Portmanteau Series Nickname: The actual name is long enough that even someone who spoke Japanese would get tired of saying the entire thing. Fans (and Funimation) refer to it as "Oni Ai" for simplicity's sake.
• Underage Casting: Akiko's voice-actress (14 at the time of recording) is actually two years younger than her 16-year-old character; a rare reversal of the usual Dawson Casting practices of the current anime industry.
