Trivia / Onegai My Melody

Go To

  • Acting for Two:
    • Noboru Maeda is Baku and all of his brothers (who all have the same voice, but not the same as Baku's), except Bakujuichiro during Kirara until his voice breaks and switches back to Maeda.
    • Miyuki Sawashiro is Hedgehog, Kogure (They've interacted), Bakujuichiro, and Bako.
    • Hidenobu Kiuchi as the King and Dar-chan/Dark Power. They fought each other in one episode while Dar-chan was using Dorian's body.
    • Kōki Miyata as Sorara and Berry, who also fight each other once.
    • Junko Takeuchi is Piano and Kuromi. They are occasionally seen interacting with each other.
  • Cross-Dressing Voices: Masaki Iwasaki as Baku's mom. For reference, he's also the God of Eggplants.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes:
    • If you live somewhere in Asia, you will have to be very lucky if you're able to find any footage of the English dub of the anime.
    • Despite the Italian dub covering every season of the show, there are no DVD releases to be found whatsoever and little footage of it has turned up online.
    • The Spanish dub was direct-to-DVD and exclusive to Spain. For a long time, the only footage existing online were uploads of episodes 1-6 and 8 split into multiple parts. It wasn't until early 2021 when a Spanish Youtube user uploaded almost every episode (104 episodes in total) that was dubbed in that language.
  • Market-Based Title: Most dubs of the series just called it My Melody. The Spanish dub was marketed under the title of My Melody: ¡Haz mi sueño realidad! while the Italian dub was called My Melody - Sogni di magia.
  • Milestone Celebration: The anime series debuted in 2005, the same year the titular character celebrated her 30th anniversary.
  • Missing Episode: It's been reported that an English dub of the anime was made (called My Melody's Magical Adventure), which aired on an unknown Cartoon Network channel and on Animax in Asia. A clip of the dub was on YouTube, but got removed. As such, almost nothing is known about it, and even The Other Wiki doesn't acknowledge it.
  • No Export for You:
    • There actually was an English dub of the anime, but it only aired in the Philippines on Cartoon Network. In Spanish-speaking territories, there's a Spanish dub, but only for Spain, not available in Latin America. On a now-deleted forum created by Funimation (now owned by Sony) asking fans what shows they wanted licensed, one title that was requested was Onegai My Melody.
    • Most dubs of the show only cover the first season and a few covered Kuru Kuru Shuffle. Italy is the only European country to receive a dub of the entire series.
  • Sequel in Another Medium: A lesser-known Light Novel sequel named Onegai My Melody High School was released in 2013.
