  • Executive Meddling: The original Hebrew version of the book had the line "Bye-bye, wee-wee, bye-bye, poo-poo, See you on the seashore!". Not only was the second half of this line already controversial within the book's native Israel – to the point the Mayor of Tel Aviv and Israeli Ministry of Environmental Protection requested Alona Frankel to change the line and invited her to visit a sewage treatment plant – it was dropped from translations due to environmental implications. Frankel responded that she would remove the line once the government cleaned up the beaches, and true to her word, she did.
  • No Export for You: In its native Israel, the original book is considered a beloved childhood classic, while the video adaptation and the dolls are nowhere to be seen, to the point most Israelis don't even know they exist. The female version of the book, which was only created at the American publisher's request, was only released in the mid-2010s in Israel.
