Trivia / Omen IV: The Awakening

  • Creator Killer: Due to the reception of the film, series producer Harvey Bernhard wouldn't do another film after this prior to his death in 2014.
  • Franchise Killer: The film's poor reception put any possible plans for a fifth film shelved and thus ending the original series. Another attempt to relaunch the franchise in form of a NBC TV pilot came and went in 1995 and there wouldn't be another film after this until the 2006 remake, while the original series' continuity returned in form of the short-lived Damien in 2016, which ignores the three sequels, including this one.
  • What Could Have Been: Before this was made, there were plans for a fourth film back in 1982 when 20th Century Fox announced a film adaptation of the sequel novel Omen IV: Armageddon 2000 for a late 1984 release with Omen III: The Final Conflict director Graham Baker returning to direct and Damien: Omen II writer Stanley Mann penning the screenplay. However, Baker's busy commitments on a different film forced him to withdraw, so television director Horace D. Burton replaced him instead. Unfortunately, it was scrapped due to Burton's death in 1983.
