• Creator Killer: This film would make Disney stay out of making mature-oriented films until they acquired 20th Century Fox in 2019.
• Mid-Development Genre Shift: The film was originally shot as a bawdy comedy for the studio's Touchstone Pictures label, but poor test screenings caused them to re-edit it to be more family-friendly, with Disney instead releasing it under their name.
• Posthumous Credit: This was the final project for Bernie Mac, who died in August 2008; just over a year before the film's release
• Real-Life Relative: Kelly Preston, who plays Vicki, was married to John Travolta, who plays Charlie Reed. Their daughter Ella Bleu also plays Emily one of the twins.
