Trivia / Nowhere in Africa

Go To

  • California Doubling: The brief scene from Leobschütz was filmed somewhere in downtown Munich. Which also leads to The Mountains of Illinois situation, as Leobschütz is in the middle of loess plain, surrounded by fields, rather than having the Alps on the horizon.
  • Same Language Dub: Merab Ninidze, who played Walter Redlich, is Georgian. While he did deliver his lines in German, to alleviate issues with accent, he was dubbed by Herbert Knaup (you might know him as the father from Run Lola Run).
  • Troubled Production: A mild case, but the film was still shot in Kenya on location, which led to things like record drought affecting the filming or having to build a road first to be able to haul all the equipment on site.
