Trivia / Nintendo Badge Arcade

Go To

  • Milestone Celebration: When the arcade's final badges were released in Japan and North America/Europe, the 9999th in May 2017 and 8800th in June 2017 respectively, they went out with a bang, with the bunny going through the game's credits in the opening chatter and then offering two free plays every day starting a week after.
  • No Export for You: There are badge sets that were released in the Japanese version but never introduced in the North American and European versions. Notable examples are Rusty's Real Deal Baseball badges, Animal Crossing badges promoting of the Sanrio collaboration for Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Monster Hunter badges promoting Monster Hunter XX, Yo-kai Watch badges promoting Yo-kai Watch 3, Daigasso! Band Brothers P badges, Megami Megurinote  badges, . The latter four games that were promoted were released only in Japan when they decided to stop releasing new badges outside Japan. Others are specifically centred on Japanese culture, such badges for the different regions of Japan and tileable pixel zen garden badges. The badges for Crazy Galaxy (a 2017 April Fool's joke describing a fake game starring Ashley from WarioWare) were also not released outside Japan for unstated reasons.
  • Viral Marketing: If the badge collection you're looking at isn't sourced from one of Nintendo's flagship franchises (or even if it is), odds are very good that it is promoting a just-released or upcoming game.
  • What Could Have Been: Early designs for the Badge Bunny were yellow instead of pink.
