Trivia / Night Crossing

• California Doubling: The majority of the film was shot in Bavaria and takes place in Thuringia, literally only a few miles away. Justified, as filming in East Germany would have been very difficult.
• Completely Different Title: The German title is Mit dem Wind nach Westen or "With the Wind to the West." Ironically, the families' flight path took them almost due south geographically.
• Fake Nationality: The family members are all American, except for Brit John Hurt.
