Trivia / Nekojiru Gekijou

• Creator Breakdown: Chiyomi "Nekojiru" Hashiguchi, the mangaka whose work inspired the shorts, made a lot of really dark, twisted and weird stories in which hatred for society and people in general were common themes. In 1998, Nekojiru commited suicide under mysterious causes. This anime, depicting that very crude humor and disgust for society in general, was broadcast a year later.
• Write What You Know: The late Nekojiru was known as an extremely Picky Eater who was adverse to most kinds of food, believing that meat tasted like blood, and she would often spit out foods seconds after trying them. This may have inspired the Running Gag of the kittens spitting out or vomiting food offered to them. She was also a known cynic, and whenever she disliked something, she would repeat "boring" or "I don't care" over and over, which explains the brutally honest personalities of the kittens and the dark tone in general.
