• This was originally intended as a pilot for a weekly series, but it was never picked up.

• Following ABC passing on the pilot, UPN was asked to pick up the series. However, they declined after Lawson earned a role on It's All Relative (2003)

• Maggie Lawson shares the same birth year as Sarah Shahi , who portrayed Nancy in the 2016 CBS pilot, Drew (2016) . In addition, both actresses also shared the screen together on Psych: Thrill Seekers and Hell Raisers (2010).

• Actresses Christine Lakin and Rachel McAdams also auditioned for the title role. The pilot was the first audition for Mc Adams, who later stated losing the role helped get her a leading role in The Hot Chick.

• In Memoriam: The film was dedicated to the original author of the Nancy Drew books, Mildred Wirt Benson. Wirt ghostwrote the series under the pseudonym Carolyn Keene, from 1930 to 1953; she wrote 23 of the first 30 Nancy Drew books. Wirt had died in May 2002.
