Trivia / My Singing Monsters

Go To

  • Content Leak: Seems to be the case with most of the recent updates, most notable examples including Anglow and Pinghound and The Perplexplore event.
  • Newbie Boom: The game suddenly received an influx of new players in late 2022 after several of its songs became popular on TikTok, with the game as a whole following suit. This may or may not have caused varying degrees of lag in the game's servers.
  • Official Fan-Submitted Content: The Creator Experience, an opportunity afforded to certain Kickstarter backers for My Singing Monsters: The Board Game. Backers designed decorations and costumes that were added to the game for the tenth Anniversary Month event. Additionally, the Ultimate Creator Experience saw the highest Kickstarter backers design some of the new Mythical monsters, namely Cherubble, Hyehehe and Anglow.
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: How the Legendary Shugabush monster came to be. On Father's Day 2013, Vocalist Kristian Bush of the American country music duo Sugarland came into contact with My Singing Monsters, when he saw his son playing it. Once his son showed him how to play, he instantly was hooked on it and even tweeted how much he loved the game. One of the designers of My Singing Monsters responded to Bush's tweet and began collaborating on the new monster's appearance and mechanics, while Bush himself created the parts that would harmonize with the other monsters.
  • Referenced by...: The Zoroark/Mr. Mime fusion in Pokémon Infinite Fusion is designed to look like Hyehehe.
  • Shout-Out: There are multiple shout-outs to different things in the game.
    • Epic Whisp is a reference to singer Billie Eilish, with its bio referencing her songs multiple times.
    • All of Bellowfish's variants have references to the TV Show Breaking Bad. Epic Bellowfish has the most references, with even looking similar to the main character Walter White.
    • One of the possible names Hyehehe can receive when being placed on an island, "Lancer", is a reference to the Deltarune character of the same name.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The Wubbox monster was meant to have a statue form on Wublin Island, but this was scrapped as the regular box design made more sense in the game's canon.
    • The Werdos were originally created as a group of monsters called "Lyriks", of which there would be one for each Natural island. Their overall look was reused for the Withur monster, and their design of having an appearance to match their island was reused for the Epic Wubbox monster.
    • The Bisonorus monster(s) originally had a far different design and was named "Doose", which was actually teased on the loading screen for Dawn of Fire's version 1.15.1 (although many players mistook it for the Congle monster, which incidentally was meant to release alongside Doose). It ended up getting delayed and redesigned into the current Bisonourus.
    • The Floot Fly monster was originally intended to be the quad-element of Earth Island.
    • The Wimmzies monster(s) was originally meant to be a feminine version of the Quarrister monster. This idea is referenced in one of the monster's default names, "QuarristHer".
    • The Pluckbill monster was originally intended to be a Bone monster.
    • The Knucklehead monster was originally named "Cubehands" and was intended to be added to Dawn of Fire before being re-imagined as a Magical monster.
    • Rather than working like how a typical monster does, Mimic was originally conceptualized with giving players the ability to record their own parts for it to sing. This idea would be repurposed for the Recording Studio, resulting in Mimic in its original form being scrapped. Mimic would later be repurposed into a typical monster and make its debut in Dawn of Fire as part of the 11th anniversary of the original game.
    • The PongPing monster was originaly intended to be Water Island's quad-element.
    • The Magical Islands were originally intended to be Fire Islands, and some of the scrapped monster sounds can be faintly heard in the background of other monsters.
      • Psychic Island was originally going to stay as Fire Frontier and have the Earth element rather than the Psychic element. It would have had the Shrubb, Fwog, Stogg, Pummel, Repatillo, Thrumble and Edamimi monsters.
      • Faerie Island was originally going to be Fire Park and have the Air element rather than the Faerie element. It would have had the Cybop, Pango, Glowl, PomPom, Floogull, Woolabee and Krillby monsters.
      • Bone Island was originally going to be Fire Bastion and have the Air element rather than the Bone element. It would have had the Cybop, Quibble, Glowl, Scups, Floogull, Whaddle and Flum Ox monsters.
      • Light Island was originally going to have the Air element rather than the Light element. It would have had the Dandidoo, Pango, Glowl, Thumpies, Barrb, Woolabee and Yelmut monsters.
    • The Fire Haven Mythical was originally going to be made by one of the Ultimate Creators, but the person who was going to make them backed out of it. The Fire Haven Mythical would later be made with the help of the My Singing Monsters community, and Buzzinga was added to the game.
