• Actor Allusion:
  • Twilight's battle with Tirek is similar to Raven versus Trigon's in Teen Titans (2003). Tirek's looks are also similar to Trigon's, and they're both powerful, demonic figures. Tara Strong voices both Raven and Twilight.
  • The battle also draws a lot of parallels to Dragon Ball Z, which alludes to no actor in particular but to the fact that MLP and The Ocean Group's DBZ dub both take their cast from the same pool of Canadian actors.
  • This is also not the first time that John de Lancie has played an all-powerful reality warper that gets brought down to normal until he learns a lesson in friendship and self-sacrifice.
• What Could Have Been: Storyboard art of the battle between Twilight and Tirek shows a sequence where Twilight knees and punches Tirek in the face. Hasbro executives mandated that Twilight was not allowed to do this.
• Word of God: The Rainbow Power forms were one-off uses specific to this plotline. And haven't been used much since due to the difficulty of using their animation builds.
