• Fandom Nod: When Spike goes to shake to agree with Applejack to let any future rescues just be something that good friends do for each other, he pauses a moment before balling his claw into a fist and bumping it with AJ's hoof. The fandom's "brohoof" is the same thing.
• What Could Have Been: According to the writers at the Las Pegasus Unicon (2013), this episode was originally slated as a Rarity episode, but the writers found that it ended up with Rarity treating Spike in a mean way, and thus bore out this episode.
