- Dueling Dubs: It is not known if Mr. Vampire was given a standard Hong Kong-recorded English dub for export, but the film did receive two distinct dubs for release on home video in the UK and U.S., respectively. Both are collected on the Eureka Entertainment Blu-Ray.
- He Also Did: Anthony Chan (Priest Four Eyes) was the drummer for the band Wynners; fellow band members include Alan Tam and Kenny Bee.
- What Could Have Been: Golden Harvest tried to make an English language version of Mr. Vampire called Demon Hunters. Lam Ching Ying was unavailable so Yuen Wah took over as protagonist; Jack Scalia of Dallas and Michelle Phillips of The Mamas & the Papas were slated for the movie too. Filming was done in Hong Kong but plagued by constant problems, leading to Golden Harvest cancelling the project. The footage is still in their possession and hasn't been made public.
- Lam Ching-ying and Ricky Hui has the same death anniversary: 8 November (Lam passed away in 1997, while Hui died in 2011).
