• The Danza: The initial survivors are all named after the original Off-Broadway cast members who played them.
• Disowned Adaptation: Former Simpsons writer and showrunner Mike Reiss loathed the play, finding it bleak and pretentious. The only parts he stated he enjoyed were the chunks that just reenacted Cape Feare wholesale.
• Throw It In!: Washburn began the process of writing the play by gathering the actors and having them try to recall the plot of "Cape Feare" from memory. Most of the dialogue in Act I is taken verbatim from those conversations.
• What Could Have Been: Before settling on The Simpsons, other shows Anne Washburn considered writing about were Friends, Cheers, and M*A*S*H.
