  • Direct to Video: Bizarrely, in its home country - Lorimar Motion Pictures had planned to give it a North American theatrical release, but Michael's manager (and along with MJ the film's executive producer) Frank DiLeo wanted such a high percentage of the box office returns that it was cancelled.
  • Edited for Syndication: Releases on DVD and BluRay cut down on how much Mr. Big hits Katie when he's holding her hostage and completely edits out his attempt to drug her, going from another shot of him hurting Katie directly to Michael getting knocked down when he tries to save her.
  • Executive Meddling: Soundtrack labels have tried to release Bruce Broughton's energetic scoring for the "Speed Demon" and "Smooth Criminal" segments, but as one label head put it, "Michael Jackson's people said no. Even after we offered to completely avoid Michael Jackson's image." So until they relentnote  fans have to console themselves with the short suite from "Smooth Criminal" recorded by the Cincinnati Pops for the 1990 album Fantastic Journey.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: There's no Region 1 DVD as yet, even with the surge of interest in Jackson's work since his death, so hold on to your VHS and LaserDisc copies.
    • A Region-Free Blu-Ray version was released in Europe and Australia in 2010. However, this has been censored (see the main page), so this still applies, unfortunately.
      • Also since it's being released in Europe and Australia (both of which use PAL), it would still be somewhat unwatchable in NTSC-standard countries (such as North America and Japan) without a dual-standard TV or other conversion equipment. Or watching in a computer.
    • It's now available in the U.S. as a digital download exclusively on Amazon.
    • Netflix DVD has it for rent
  • Uncredited Role: None of the voice actors in the "Speed Demon" segment are credited.
