  • Anime First: The OVA was first released in February 1993, shortly before the manga and light novel adaptations were made.
  • Cross-Dressing Voices: Nozomu Ozora is voiced by the female Rica Matsumoto.
  • Directed by Cast Member: The English dub was directed by the late Kevin Seymour, who also voiced some one-off characters.
  • Franchise Ownership Acquisition: NBCUniversal's 2008 purchase of Pioneer LDC/Geneon from Dentsu included the rights to Moldiver.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Moldiver hasn't been re-issued on home video since it was last released on DVD in Japan in December 2004, with used LD, VHS and DVD copies raking up to at least $50 to $100 USD on sites like Amazon.
  • No Export for You: The manga and light novel adaptations have never seen a worldwide release outside of Japan.
  • Production Posse: Many of the OVA's staff have previously worked on the Tenchi Muyo! series, including Hiroyuki Kitazume and Masaki Kajishima.

  • Schedule Slip: Production of Moldiver was frequently delayed due to Hiroyuki Kitazume simultaneously working as a character designer on the Bastard!! OVA adaptation, also produced by AIC and Pioneer LDC.
  • What Could Have Been: During development, Moldiver was originally envisioned as a self-contained series. According to creator/director Hiroyuki Kitazume, the production team incorporated elements of "Verity" starting with the second episode.
