• Creator Backlash: The reveal that Dorian's was Frank's secret son was hated among the cast, who felt that it permanently ruined any happy family dynamic the show had. Sheryl Lee Ralph cited it as one of the main reasons she decided to step back from the show in its final season.
• The Danza: Bernie Mac as Frank's brother and Moesha's uncle, Bernie Mitchell. He would go on to play another Uncle Bernie a few years later.
• Edited for Syndication: The Netflix release takes out performances by guest stars and changes some background music. This was painfully obvious during the season 4 episode "The Prom," where a reference to TLC's "No Scrubs" is orphaned and the rest of the scene where Silk performs "Please Don't Go" was very butchered and disorienting because the episode's plot developed during their performance.
• Fake Nationality: China Moses guest stars as a French exchange student in Season 2.
• Hostility on the Set: Brandy and costar Countess Vaughn, who played her best friend Kim, reportedly did not get along. There were stories about how Vaughn would be the subject of numerous fat jokes that everyone except her were aware would be in the script and how Brandy, who even as a teenager, still would have a say over what was to be said, but did nothing out of jealousy over her popularity. There were also stories that Brandy and her onscreen stepmother, Sheryl Lee Ralph, did not get along, which were more or less confirmed when the former apologized to the latter years after the series ended.
• Keep Circulating the Tapes: Only the first season is on DVD. The Parkers didn't even get that much.
  • Both now avert this trope, as of 2020, when both series started streaming on Netflix.
• Missing Episode: Several in the GMC/UP Network broadcasts. Most notably, any episode discussing or even acknowledging birth control is axed from the schedule, as well as the Holiday themed episodes.
• You Look Familiar: Ray J appeared as Charles in seasons 1, 2, and 3, himself in season 4, and Dorian in seasons 5 and 6. Also counts as I Want You to Meet an Old Friend of Mine.
