Trivia / Men Behaving Badly

Go To

  • Channel Hop: The series first appeared on ITV, but was dropped by them after two series due to disappointing ratings, Harry Enfield having left after the first series and its production company, Thames, having lost its London weekday franchise. It wasn't until The BBC got it and transmitted it in a later slot that it became a massive hit.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: While the complete series is available on DVD, the first season has never been repeated.
    • The American remake also qualifies. It even left the air with several episodes not shown.
  • The Pete Best: Harry Enfield starred in the first season and left before the move to the BBC and before the series became successful.
  • Self-Adaptation: Simon Nye based this show on a book that he wrote with the same name.
  • Throw It In! - Most of the really juvenile parts of the show's humour were ad-libbed by the cast, such as the "Wanker Song", and Gary's line when Tony complains about "why does Debs like (her latest boyfriend) when he's got a face like an arse?" Gary: "Maybe he's got a huge knob?" Also at one point Gary has spent the night watching porn in bed, and Dorothy then comes home, climbs in and settles down, oblivious. Caroline Quentin decided that she would then raise her head to reveal a tissue stuck to the side of her face.
  • What Could Have Been: In 2002 it was revealed that Simon Nye and the cast had agreed to revive the series for three further specials the following year, in which Beryl Vertue wanted the show to focus on how Gary and Dorothy were coping with parenthood. The idea was shelved the following year after Caroline Quentin became pregnant.
