Trivia / Mega Man X: Corrupted

Go To

  • Exiled from Continuity: According to the FAQ, Axl will not be in the game. Though considering the game replaces X6, it's presumable that the trouble with Red Alert just hasn't started yet.
  • Mythology Gag: Blizzard Buffalo's new intro animation features him creating an ice sculpture of his old sprite from the X3 beta before destroying it. Also counts as a reference to his pre-stage FMV in the Saturn/PSX version.
  • Schedule Slip: The development process of the game has been going since 2011 (with initial planning lasting from 2008-2010) and shows no signs of stopping any time soon, easily surpassing the fellow fan project Mega Man Unlimited's delay. Somewhat justified in that the game is a 16-bit Metroidvania with 12 different endings, JKB is working on it for little to no pay or donations in order to avoid copyright strikes, and the project has undergone at least two programming language changes.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The game was initially planned to be developed on a platform that became no longer supported in 2020. Thanks to Schedule Slip past this date, it was ported to Haxe + openFL and running on HTML5.
    • During earlier stages of development, many of the game's assets were reused from the SNES X games. Over time they were slowly phased out in favor of new original assets that mimic the SNES art style instead. While this does eliminate some of the nostalgia factor, it also likely helps keep the game copyright-strike free, so it's for the better.
    • X's weapon from Warfare Milodon was originally Homing Missiles, a forward Spread Shot of homing missiles. It got changed to Missile Barrage, a Death from Above missile storm that's fired in an upward spread before raining down and homing in on enemies.
    • The Neuro Spike was changed from shooting a Mind Control device into a flying kick attack, still keeping its name.
    • Zero's technique from Sparkling Scorpio was different, being an move where he fired electricity upwards that scaled across the walls. It got changed into a grappling hook-like attack that allowed him to grapple an enemy (which paralyzes the target) or wall and then dash through enemies along the way.
