Trivia / Master Ky: The Pre-Series

Go To

Short 1:

  • Originally, Kyzer would’ve been the one hiding from Doshia in embarrassment instead of Doshia herself.
  • Kyzer would’ve explained the entire Imagination Sequence as a narrator. This was cut out.
  • Kyzer Preston would’ve voiced Dr. Crazyguy before being replaced with Richard Browning. His scream is still used when Crazyguy is about to get blasted by the Ultra Mega Blaster if you listen closely, however.
  • Kyzer’s quote (“Every legend has a beginning. A tale that’s far from the main story. This story is about me.”) was originally going to be at the very start of the episode - before Kyzer’s 5-year-old self wakes up, to further imply that this takes place 9 years before the main series. This was changed into being placed at the start of the Imagine Spot.
  • The robot Ivan Madman pilots was originally going to be traditionally animated like Madman himself. Instead, it’s replaced with CGI and Madman is a still image for the most part.
  • Due to time constraints, some scenes seem to be at a lot faster pace or are cut entirely than originally intended.
  • Kyzer at 5 originally would’ve been voiced by Courtney Lin or an actual kid voice actor before Kyzer ended up doing it himself.
  • Punchtice stopping Madman from crushing the children and punching his robot was changed to Madman suddenly stopping and Punchtice implicitly saving the children instead due to time constraints.
  • Kyzer’s 5-year-old voice would’ve originally been pitched up digitally to match how a 5-year-old would sound. Due to it being painfully obvious that it’s edited, the lines were chosen to be unedited due to them sounding childlike enough.
  • To further exaggerate the power of the Ultra Mega Blaster; the attack was originally going to blast through several robots before eventually reaching Crazyguy.
  • Ivan’s robot was originally going to have laser cannons.
  • The entire short was originally going to be in a more detailed Anime-like style before it was decided to use the Anime style exclusively for the imaginary sequences, heroes, and villains while using a more simplified, cartoonish style for the children and other adults to further insinuate the preschool vibe of the show.
    • Likewise, the short was originally going to be entirely traditionally animated before switching to rigging for the main style to save time; with only the Imagine Spot and Punchtice being traditionally animated.
  • In general: the entire series was going to be in one, Animesque style before separating the Anime-like style for the Imagine Spot and making the main style have more of a cartoony style.
  • The backgrounds of Short 1 were originally going to be photorealistic with a paper-like feel.
