Trivia / Marvelous Melmo

Go To

  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: The only way to see the show as seen in the original 1971 Japanese airings is via the 1990 VHS release note  and the 1993 laserdisc release, however the laserdisc release has parts of the audio missing, which may explain why the 1998 redub even exists in the first place.
  • Missing Episode: According to Wikipedia, some episodes were been shown on Channel 47 in New York back in the 1980s on a Japanese programming block. It is unknown if they were dubbed episodes or simply subtitled, since no known footage of it's airing is known to exist online, if at all.
  • No Export for You: Melmo did once officially stream on Viki, but show hasn't been legally available since Viki lost the rights to stream this and other Tezuka anime making watching this show legally difficult (unless if you live in Japan or Italy of course).
  • The Other Darrin: The "Renewal" version aired in 1998 on WOWOW featured an entirely new voice cast, including Maria Kawamura as Melmo, taking over from Reiko Mutoh.
