Adored by the Network: The movie has had quite a bit of advertising to it, but the icing on the cake is premiering on both Disney Channel and Disney XD on the same day. Unfortunately, it's been given a not-so-good time slot, as mentioned below on Screwed by the Network.
Billing Displacement: Every project lists everyone in alphabetical, meaning that Dee Bradley Baker gets top billing every time.
The Cast Showoff: Gwen is a drummer in a band, the same as in her comics. Unlike comics Gwen, however, the Marvel Rising version is also a singer, since her voice actress Dove Cameron is as well. Battle of the Bands has her perform "Born Ready", a song sung by Dove Cameron which had appeared in previous Marvel Rising animations, such as as the credits song in Secret Warriors.
Channel Hop: In a way, this technically happens. Both the Initiation shorts and Secret Warriors movie premiered first on TV, and were eventually put up on YouTube. Due to the ratings being stronger online, future specials are released online first and then on Watch Disney Now a little later.
Dawson Casting: Almost every teenager here is played by an actor who's at least in their 20s, with 45 year old Tara Strong as Mary Jane Watson taking the cake. The only major exceptions are with Glory Grant (being voiced by 16 year old Skai Jackson) and Riri Williams (being voiced by 14 year old Sofia Wylie), and thus the closest in age to their characters.
Follow the Leader: It's pretty obvious that this is following in the footsteps of DC Super Hero Girls, another show geared towards younger girls with a focus on female heroes.
Daisy Lightfoot, who voiced Shuri in the 2018 Lego Black Panther special and Avengers Assemble, reprises her role here. Likewise, James C. Mathis III returns as Black Panther.
Screwed by the Network: It's not as bad as other examples, but still worth noting. The movie premiered on September 30, 2018, but at 10:00pm. Unlike Star Wars Resistance, it doesn't have the advantage of premiering on a holiday weekend. The network is promoting it however, unlike other examples of this trope.
What Could Have Been: Early storyboards from Grace Liu showed Squirrel Girl being much thinner, unlike in the final product, where she's more of a heavy set.
Screwed by the Network: Marvel's handling of the 2018 mini-series got a lot of criticism, specifically over the decision to make each issue officially a one-shot with a different subtitle and no real indication of the correct reading order. Even hardcore Marvel fans spoke about how confusing it was, so the newer audience the comic was aimed at didn't have a chance.
