- Completely Different Title:
- The original title is La Marche de l'empereur (literally, "the march of the emperor"), a more poetic reference to the penguins (the official French name for the species is a literal translation of their English name).
- The sequel, March of the Penguins 2: The Next Step, is known in France as L'Empereur ("the emperor").
- Follow the Leader: Its success (combined with the Breakout Characters of Madagascar) led to a brief burst of "penguin-mania", leading to the releases of Happy Feet and Surf's Up.
- Foreign Rescore: Outside France Emelie Simon's vocal score was replaced by a score by Alex Wurman.
- Sleeper Hit: Of a sort. Ordinarily, documentaries aren't released to mainstream cinemas like this one was.
