• Actor-Inspired Element / Actor-Shared Background: To explain away Canadian born Allie Bertram's North American accent when surrounded by Aussies, it is stated that Mimmi was born and raised in the Northern Pod, before her mother hid her with the Mako Pod.
• The Cast Showoff: Amy Ruffle gets to constantly show of her singing chops, since Sirena functions as the Ocean Cafe's resident singer. Later after Carly takes voice lessons, Brooke Lee gets to sing in a few episodes as well.
• Dawson Casting: Compared to H₂O: Just Add Water all the main characters look older (and much fitter) despite supposedly being the same age as the characters in the original series. When Rikki appears in the season finale, even though it's supposed to happen around 5-10 years after the parent series' season finale, she looks barely older than the current main characters.
