- Late Export for You: The PSP re-release's content wasn't made available in the west until 2022, when it was released as part of the NIS Classics Vol. 2 Compilation Re-release.
- Marth Debuted in "Smash Bros.": Remember Petta, Zetta's daughter? She was part of the content of the Updated Re-release that was exclusive to Japan until 2022. Despite this, she appears in Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten, Disgaea D2 A Brighter Darkness and Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance; games that made it to the west.
- The Other Darrin:
- Zetta's voice actor has been replaced twice in his later appearances in other Nippon Ichi games due to union issues with Crispin Freeman. Richard Epcar provided his voice in Disgaea 2 and he is later replaced by Patrick Seitz in Disgaea 4. Patrick Seitz would go on to reprise the role in Petta Mode.
- Pram's voice actress is either Amanda Winn-Lee or Erin Fitzgerald depending on the game.
- Screwed by the Network: Sony itself turned down the American release of the PSP port of the game because it simply didn't want another sprite-based game.
- Writing by the Seat of Your Pants: Nippon Ichi had to fill in a hole left by Makai Wars' cancellation within less than a year. Makai Kingdom was the one that filled in that hole.
