• Actor-Shared Background: Jennifer Lopez grew up in the Bronx like Marissa did, and of course ended up hounded by paparazzi over her romantic indiscretions.
• Adored by the Network: E! likes playing this film from time to time.
• All-Star Cast: Jennifer Lopez at the height of her super-stardom, alongside respected talent like Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci, Natasha Richardson and Bob Hoskins.
• Deleted Scene: A clip of Chris and Marisa snuggling in bathrobes and enjoying champagne after making love in his hotel room.
• Fake American: Ralph Fiennes (British) as Christopher Marshall.
• Fake Nationality: Fake regional accent, at least. Bob Hoskins, a Cockney, puts on an RP accent as Lionel.
• Missing Trailer Scene: There's a brief clip of a party with Marisa and her fellow maids that never appears in the film, as well as a few clips of her preening in various party dresses. While it's clearly from the Makeover Montage when she was getting ready for the ball, they don't appear in the finished movie.
• Recursive Adaptation: Received a telenovella adaptation in 2011.
• What Could Have Been:
  • The project originally began as a John Hughes directed film called The Chambermaid, later retitled Uptown Girl. Hughes is still credited as the writer, but under his Edmond Dantes pseudonym. It was also originally set in 1920s Chicago.
  • Sandra Bullock, Julia Roberts and Hilary Swank were considered for the role of Marisa.
