- Acting for Two:
- Rikiya Koyama voices Eutas and Abe.
- Naoki Tatsuta voices Arata Imamiya as well as the Opening Narration.
- Katsuyuki Konishi plays Kouhei and Masayuki Asahina's younger self.
- Akemi Okamura voices Sayaka Imamiya as well as a Little Goblin.
- Actor-Shared Background: Like their characters Sasshi and Arumi, Tomo Saeki and Yuki Matsuoka hail from Osaka.
- Anime First: While two manga adaptations began before the anime aired, they were mainly meant to promote the anime and there are some differences in their plots.
- Cross-Dressing Voices: In the Japanese and English versions, Sasshi was voiced by a woman.
- Reality Subtext: Sasshi is a creative boy who can create entire worlds, but his narrow experience with the world limits him to regurgitating takes on the genre fiction he's consumed, to the point where he eventually tries to create realistic settings and finds he simply can't. It's hard not to see this as a commentary on Gainax itself.
- Real Song Theme Tune: Megumi Hayashibara's rendition of Chinatsu Nakayama's 1969 song "In Your Heart" is used as the anime's ending theme.
- Written by Cast Member: In the English dub, Mike Yantosca is Panda's voice actor as well as the ADR writer.
