• B-Team Sequel: This is the first Lupin III special not to be directed by Osamu Dezaki. Instead, it was directed by Masaaki Osumi.
• Directed by Cast Member: The English dub was directed by Sonny Strait, who also voiced Lupin III.
• Studio Hop: The special was originally released in North America by Funimation. It was eventually picked up by Discotek Media, who released it in 2016.
• What Could Have Been: Character designer Hisashi Eguchi was going to have Lupin in a yellow jacket. Concept art was made however, his request was ignored.
