The Famous Studios Cartoons

  • Cowboy BeBop at His Computer: In "Lucky Lulu", Lulu tries to find a lucky charm that will keep her from getting spanked. Some animation databases give a completely different synopsis where she pursues a short escaped convict, thinking he's a leprechaun hiding a pot of gold.
  • Disowned Adaptation: Marjorie Henderson Buell hated the cartoons, which she didn't feel were true to the original comics, and got involved with the making of those two Lulu shorts in the '60s to make sure that they were faithful to her work.
  • Edited for Syndication: Censorship example. A Bout with the Trout was screened in Muslim countries with the pig part of Swing on a Star cut offnote .
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Applies to most of the shorts with the select few that fell in the public domain getting released on VHS and DVD compilations. None circulated with their original titles or color until 2009 when a fully-restored version of "Snap Happy" was uploaded to YouTube. Became rescued when the rest of the shorts made their way there in early 2012, albeit in differing qualities.
  • Missing Episode: Not the cartoons themselves, but the original title cards from most the 1940's shorts are lost.
  • Screwed by the Lawyers: Paramount stopped making Little Lulu cartoons when they tried, and failed, to buy the rights to the character from Marge. They got around it by creating Little Audrey.
  • Unfinished Episode: A print ad showcased a short called "Lulu in the Dark" that was never made. One scene would have had Lulu and Tubby in the Tunnel of Love.
  • You Look Familiar: In several of the Famous Studios shorts, Lulu will meet some Jerkass man (such as a magician, a dog catcher, department store owner, train conductor, etc.) who gives her trouble for the majority of the short (or vice verse). These men all look exactly the same.
