• Write What You Know: The comic is heavily based off Francesca Hause's experiences raising two sons. When conceiving the comic, she kept a notebook of experiences for material.
• Write Who You Know: The characters are heavily based off the author and her family; Fran is based on herself, Joel is based on her husband, and Vincent and Cooper are based on their sons.
