  • Actor Allusion:
    • Eddie offers his boss a toast point when they are at the restaurant just before having lunch with Carl. Toast points were the Trademark Favorite Food of Baracus in The A-Team, in which Bradley Cooper starred as Face.
    • Jake McDorman and Lio Tipton used to be dating in another series. Naturally, they play exes this time.
    • In The Stinger to "Headquarters!", Brian is seen trying to give CPR to Naz and yelling "Fight! Fight!", homaging a similar scene in The Abyss where Bud is performing CPR on Lindsey (who was played of course by Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio).
  • The Cast Showoff: Bradley Cooper speaking fluent French, which he does in real life.
  • Executive Meddling: The film's original, darker ending that was closer to the source material was changed after it didn't test well (combined with the writer and director not really liking it).
  • Screwed by the Network: Despite great ratings at first and a large fanbase, along with a cozy spot after NCIS: New Orleans. The latter half was practically ignored when most episodes started to air only once every two or three weeks on average, without any reruns whatsoever; causing a downward spiral in ratings, with the Season Finale airing before May Sweeps; it was cancelled in favor of similar low-moderate performers Code Black and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders due to their deals with ABC Studios. The fact that the heads at CBS decided not to renew any new shows until just before Upfront in comparison to every other network renewing successes (even ABC renewed it's new successful show early, unlike any other year where they wait until the end of the year, a tactic that killed similar Cult Classic, Forever, though being owned by another company played a role as well.), along with a lack of reruns leading to The Firefly Effect and possibly leading to the rapid decrease in ratings. Reportedly, CBS did try to offer the show to other networks, mainly cable or digital outlets like Netflix or Amazon Studios, but neither bit.
