    • The Concert Film Gimme Shelter (1970) is named after the opening track.
    • Martin Scorsese is quite fond of "Gimme Shelter", seeing that he used in no less than three of his movies: Goodfellas (1990), Casino (1995) and The Departed (2006). Goodfellas also uses "Monkey Man" in the montage sequence depicting the day of Henry's arrest.
    • "You Can't Always Get What You Want" was used in The Big Chill (1983) during the opening funeral scene. In High Fidelity (2000) the song is also mentioned as part of a "Top 5" list of death songs, but immediately disqualified because it was used in "The Big Chill".
    • The Simpsons: The episode "You Kent Always Say What You Want", in which news reporter Kent Brockman is fired over swearing on television.
  • Similarly Named Works: The seventh Rebus novel, published in 1995, is called Let it Bleed after this album. It would not be the last time that Ian Rankin used the title of a Stones album as the title for one of his novels; in 1997, he published one called Black and Blue, followed by the short story collection Beggars Banquet in 2002.
