Trivia / Les Boys

Go To

  • B-Team Sequel: The first three movies were directed by Louis Saia. The fourth movie was directed by George Mihalka, while the prequel movie was directed by Richard Goudreau (the latter also being the producer of the entire franchise).
  • The Cast Show Off:
    • The third movie ends with the Boys performing the song "Le Boys Blues Band", allowing their actors to demonstrate their musical skills.
    • In the fourth movie, during Jean-Charles' wedding, Réal Béland as Martin gets to sing a Spanish song he co-wrote titled "Mucho Boys".
  • Creator Backlash: Martin Petit didn't like his involvement making the second movie, where he played the role of Sylvain. He felt the experience was rather boring (not helped by the fact his character only had a few lines), to the point he declined several offers to play other roles in other movies because of that experience.
  • Fake Shemp: Patrick Huard declined to reprise his role as Ti-Guy for the fourth movie. Played by a different actor in that installment, Ti-Guy ended up at the hospital, with his head completely covered by a cast.
  • In Memoriam:
    • The third movie, which was released in 2001, is dedicated to the legendary hockey player Maurice Richard, who passed away in 2000. In the movie itself, a large picture of Richard appears near the entrance to Phil's pub.
    • The fourth movie is dedicated to Paul Buisson, a sports show host who passed away in 2005 and previously appeared in the second movie.
  • Inspiration for the Work: Producer Richard Goudreau came up with the idea of making Les Boys as a result of himself being in a team of amateur hockey players at the time. After one game, he was drinking beer and talking with his teammates in the locker-room when the idea of making that movie came to him.
  • Serendipity Writes the Plot: Roger from the first movie is played by comedian Michel Barette. At the time, during one of his shows, Barette had an accident where a spotlight bursted and injured his eye. As a result, he couldn't go on the ice, otherwise there was a risk he would get his head hurt and make his injury worse. Thus, Roger spends the majority of his screentime on the bench, coming up with several excuses to not go on the ice.
  • Throw It In!: Stan's Mad Libs Catchphrase "Dans mon livre à moi..." was improvised by his actor Rémy Girard during a scene from the first movie where Stan is talking to Bob.
  • What Could Have Been: Richard Goudreau (the producer and creator of Les Boys) initially intended to make a movie based on Broue, a long-running theatre play starring Marc Messier (Bob's actor). Ultimately, Messier and Michel Côté (another actor who starred in Broue) did not allow him to make that movie a reality and Goudreau instead came up with the idea of making a movie about a team of amateur hockey players.
  • You Look Familiar: In the first four movies and the TV series, Méo, Mario, and Julien are played by Pierre Lebeau, Patrick Labbé, and Roc Lafortune respectively. In the prequel movie, those same actors played the roles of Jimmy, Mr. Tanguay, and Sgt. St-Pierre, again respectively. Nothing in that movie indicates that their prequel characters are related to their respective characters from the previous installments (unlike their longtime co-stars who appeared in that prequel, namely Rémy Girard, Marc Messier, Yvan Ponton, Luc Guérin, and Michel Charette).
