Trivia / Leilani Kai

Go To

  • Lying Creator: The existence of the match against Velvet McIntyre and Desiree Petersen in Egypt where Kai and Judy Martin won the women's tag team titles has been disputed. Though this sort of thing was par for the course for WWF by this time.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The 1988 Omiya, Saitama title match in Zenjo was supposed to end with The Glamour Girls winning by count out but The Jumping Bomb Angels retaining the belts. Fabulous Moolah arranged the unauthorized title change to the Glamour Girls to make them look bad, and it worked, too well. WWF soon dropped the Women's Tag Team division entirely. This incidentally was the basically the end of Leilani Kai as a pro wrestling superstar, not too long after her career really started taking off. Zenjo only booked her one more time, the WWF brought her back six years later to do the job before sending her back out, and WCW was WCW. While she did still wrestle elsewhere, the territorial system was demolished so it was mostly limited to much lower profile indie feds.
    • TNA did have some interest in the NWA World Women's Title. Leilani Kai won it at a TNA event. After successfully defending the belt against AJ Sparks at the 55th NWA Anniversary, Kai was stripped of it by NWA President Bill Behrens for no showing too many events, which is to say Kai refused to return to TNA after disapproving of what she saw the first time, and that was that.
