• What Could Have Been: The story spun out of the mega-popular Crisis on Infinite Earths and was actually meant to be its sequel with such titles being tossed around such as Crisis II, Crisis on Captive Earth and Crisis of the Soul. The bad guy was initially envisioned as "The Corruptor", who would use a soul gem from Gemworld to corrupt men's souls and they would try to set the world up for their masters, The Controllers, to take over and destroy the world. It was suggested that Aquaman would perform a Face–Heel Turn, the homes of various heroes be captured (with Star City being destroyed) and the heroes ultimately coming out on top barely.
