  • The Cast Showoff: The Talent Show (We're Gonna Need A Spotlight) episode is full of this with Chris Lee (Kaleb) playing the piano and singing. Kaylee Bryant (Josie) also has some serious pipes too. Peyton Alex Smith (Rafe) did an mixture of rap poetry.
    • The Salvatore the Musical takes it farther, in addition to Lee and Bryant, Jenny Boyd, Ben Levin and Danielle Rose Russell also perform musical numbers.
  • Fake Nationality: Josie is Lizzie's twin sister and thus is meant to be a white American like her. Her actress, Kaylee Bryant, was born Kaylee Kaneshiro and is actually a white-passing Asian-American (her father is half-Japanese and she's publicly quite connected to this part of her heritage).
  • Promoted Fanboy: Most of the younger cast, but in particular Kaylee Bryant. Bryant once revealed that she became a huge fan when she binged the first five seasons of The Vampire Diaries when she was fifteen and from there went on to watch the rest of the series and the other series in The Vampire Diaries Universe, The Originals. She also described joining the cast of this show and being able to walk onto the set of the old Salvator Mansion as a dream come true and is not afraid to fangirl about the franchise in interviews.
  • Real-Life Relative: Rebecca Breeds (Aurora) and Luke Mitchell (Ken) have been married in real life since 2013.
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: Possibly explaining Davina not showing up in the series finale due to Danielle Campbell publically calling out Nathaniel Buzolic on social media, it's quite possible that she no longer wanted to play his wife.
  • Shipper on Set: Both Kaylee Bryant and Danielle Rose Russell have both been very vocal of their support for the Hope/Josie (Hosie) ship, saying that they think it is cute and would love for it to happen while making it clear that they don't have any power over it either way.
Danielle: Oh my god. You picked up on Hosie. We are making Hosie happen.
Kaylee:The control we have is to say yes we would love to. At the beginning of the show, what we were doing was, putting different cast members together in different scenes to see what sticks. Danielle and I were one of the first people to really start starting working together. So it was just like a natural thing of 'Oh yeah. Like this is cute.'
  • Queer Character, Queer Actor: Josie Saltzman is canonically pansexual in the show, and in June of 2021, her actress Kaylee Bryant came out as queer. And in season 4 Ben (a queer character) is played by out gay actor Zane Phillips
  • Voice-Only Cameo: Caroline Forbes from The Vampire Diaries cameos reading a letter to her daughter in voiceover.
