Trivia / Left Behind: Rise Of The Antichrist

Go To

  • Box Office Bomb: While the exact budget is unknown, some sources place around it $3.5 million (approximately the same amount spent on Nicholas Cage's salary alone for the 2014 film). Against a box office revenue of $3.6 million (possibly as high as $4.2 million), it would be hard to call it a bomb, but it certainly didn't have a profitable theatrical run either.
  • Development Hell: Coming in nine years after its predecessor, with the first draft screenplay finished way back in 2017. Likely due to the former's underperformance, Rise of the Antichrist struggled to find financing and initially went to Indie-Go-Go for funding, only getting $80,000 against a $500,000 goal.
  • Directed by Cast Member: Kevin Sorbo, who plays Rayford Steele, also directed the movie.
  • The Other Darrin: To the point where most people don't realize Rise was a sequel to the 2014 film. The whole cast is replaced with new actors compared to the 2014 film, mostly by less high-profile actors. Kevin Sorbo replaces Nicolas Cage as Rayford Steele, Chad Michael Murray as Buck Williams is replaced by Greg Perrow, Cassi Thompson is replaced as Chloe Steele by Sarah Fisher, Charles Andrew Payne replaces Lance E. Nichols as Pastor Bruce and Kathryn Kohut replaces Nicky Whelan as Hattie Durham.
  • Real-Life Relative: Sam and Braeden Sorbo, Kevin Sorbo's wife and son, co-star as Amanda White (Rayford's love interest) and Connor, respectively.
