- Fake Nationality:
- The French Guy Delorme as the Italian Rinaldo.
- The French Pierrette Bruno as the Italian Giuseppa.
- Hey, It's That Place!: The climax takes place at the castle of Pierrefonds, which was used for many more movies, four of which (The Eagle with two Heads, Le Bossu, The Miracle of the Wolves and Peau d'Âne) starred Jean Marais. It was later used for Gramps Is in the Resistance, Les Visiteurs 2: Les Couloirs du Temps and The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc.
- No Stunt Double: Jean Marais did most of his character's stunts himself, the dagger climbing included.
- Production Posse: Director André Hunebelle, Jean Marais and Bourvil teamed up again after Le Bossu. Actor and stuntman Guy Delorme played a mook in Le Bossu and The Dragon Rinaldo here. Hunebelle, Marais and Delorme would later work on The Miracle of the Wolves and the Fantômas film series.
- Similarly Titled Works: A common English title for the film is Captain Blood. Not to be confused with the Errol Flynn film Captain Blood, which is a different kind of swashbuckler.
