Trivia / Laura Bow

Go To

  • Acting for Two: Whenever Laura and Yvette interact in the second game. Both were voiced by Leslie Wilson-Balfour, who also served as the narrator.
  • Cast the Runner-Up: A very positive example: Leslie Wilson was initially cast just as Yvette, but when Bruce Balfour was unable to find suitable candidates for Laura and the narrator, he remembered Leslie’s knack for accents and handed her both roles in addition to Yvette.
  • Creator Backlash: Writer Josh Mandel felt The Dagger of Amon Ra got too difficult at the end, and was disappointed to hear many players struggled to successfully complete the game. Mandel felt the point-and-click game design was incompatible with the outmoded practice of taking copious notes for text adventures, but the complexity of Dagger’s story required note-taking to fully understand.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Like many games of its era released on multiple formats, the MPC version of The Dagger of Amon Ra has been re-released digitally while the floppy disk version has not.
  • My Real Daddy: Roberta Williams was only a consultant on The Dagger of Amon Ra, which was designed by Bruce Balfour and written by Josh Mandel and Lorelei Shannon.
  • Romance on the Set: Designer Bruce Balfour and voice actress Leslie Wilson met during production and would eventually marry.
  • Working Title:
    • Early publicity for the first game in Sierra's newsletter revealed the working title was Murder on the Southern Quarter.
    • As seen in the demo, the second game’s official title was originally Laura Bow II: The Dagger of Amon Ra. This was changed to Laura Bow in The Dagger of Amon Ra for the final versions’s title screen (though LB2 is usually the abbreviation for the installation folder).
