  • Acting for Two: Every character except Whoa is voiced by Steve Oedekerk. Also see Throw It In! below.
  • All There in the Manual: The script refers to Moo Nieu as male, despite the cow being able to squirt milk.
  • Deleted Scene: A whole arc of the movie where Chosen One is held captive by Betty's forces was cut, partly for time, but mostly because the sequence involved Chosen using his (clothed) penis to fight them off. Further, a rousing musical number had to be deleted as it had many references to the scene. In the film proper, Chosen One escapes capture by reversing the footage to throw off the net. Many clips from the sequence appear in the Tongue of Fury teaser. It can be found on the DVD in its entirety.
  • Development Hell: The sequel, Tongue of Fury. Despite the trailer at the end being done as a parody of sequel hooks, Steve Oedekirk has actually been trying to make a proper sequel to the film for twenty years.
  • Orphaned Reference: There's a deleted scene where an old man writes "MOUTH" on the Chosen One's face. There's a scene or two in the final cut where this writing is still visible.
  • Throw It In!: Oedekerk was originally going to have an entire cast of actors providing voices, instead of just himself. Then he did a couple of test scenes as Evil Betty and Master Tang, and it stood out so well that he kept going.
Steve Oedekerk (on the DVD Commentary): Well, the whole movie is me talking to myself.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Instead of a killer whale, it was originally suggested that a taxi cab falls into the waterfall after Chosen One and Doe.
Doe: You're falling, I'm falling, we're falling! Taxicab!
    • There was gonna be a shot of the aliens looking down at the battle between Chosen One and Betty, and they would dress like stereotypical French people while drinking wine.
    • The clip of Godzilla's foot stomping behind Chosen One and Ling in the teaser was intended to be in the ending after Master Tang said "That's what he thought".
