Trivia / Konstantinou Kai Elenis

Go To

  • Cast the Runner-Up: Harris Romas called both Eleni Rantou and Dimitra Papadopoulou when he was searching for Eleni's actress, and leaned more towards Papadopoulou script-wise. Rantou landed the role because she was faster to repond to the call.
  • Creator Backlash:
    • Spyros Mpimpilas has said multiple times he grew to despise his guest appearance on the series, as he feels the constant reruns of the episode he guest starred in overshadows his other work.
    • A milder case: Vasilis Koukouras said that he feels a bit uncomfortable when people immediately associate him with Manthos. However, he has very fond memories of his time on the series, even saying that he would be in should it be renewed sometime.
  • I Am Not Shazam: With the series being one of the most iconic on greek television and its never ending reruns, the main cast is still regularly recognized as the characters they played. Vasilis Koukouras has said that he finds it very odd, but appreciates it.
    • This was apparently the reason the series was completed in two seasons. The channel network offered to resume the series for two more seasons, but both the main protagonists(one of them being the director no less) opposed the idea because they didn't want the audience to associate them solely with their characters. Not that it did not happen in the long run...
  • Edited for Syndication: An interesting case: since the series is rerun on early afternoon instead of its initial prime time slot, swear words were eventually beeped out, scenes involving nudity or sexual implications were cut, and infamously, sexual orientation and drug references were beeped out as well. A (surprisingly serious) episode on the subject matter of sexual harrasment was cut altogether.
    • Averted for the web version uploaded on the official YouTube channel; all episodes are uploaded, uncensored.
  • Screwed by the Network: A glorious aversion. The series' original time slot was one of the worst slots for prime television: it was put on Friday night, on a relatively late night hour and rivaling a very hyped series on the same time slot on the network's rival channel (Dyo Ksenoi). The production and cast members did not expect the series to last even for one season, which is why the actors were given a lot of creative freedom and some questionable themes were allowed to be featured in the scripts. This actually is what made the series so popular and spanned it for two complete seasons, eventually leading to it being rerun for more than a decade.
  • Star-Making Role: Most of the main cast excluding the two main protagonists, who were established actors from their previous work. Special mention to Kallyroi Myriagkou and Stergios Nenes who made their television debut through this series.
  • The Other Darrin: The bar owner is played by two different actors in the span of the series. Hand Waved in the finale, as the bar is revealed to be very poor in business and changed ownership many times.
  • Throw It In!: a common practice by Harrys Romas reportedly. Being the director and scriptwriter he never knew the scripts by heart and mostly improvised by the episode's general gist.
  • Unintentionally Unsympathetic: The ridicule that Eleni faces when Konstantinos learns that she hasn't earned a high-school degree is supposed to make us viewers feel bad about her. And while at first it works, the audience stops sympathising with her after Konstantinos realises his mistake, offers her to teach her and Eleni pays no attention to class and lazes.
  • Word of God: There has been a rumor that the baby playing Chrysanthemo early on in the series was the real life daughter of Eleni Rantou, the actress portraying Eleni. Both writers have denied this, with one of them saying the role was actually shared between two babies.
  • You Look Familiar: Nionios "the speed" and Dimosthenis(Eleni's hippie friend) are both played by Nikos Kyriakidis.
