Trivia / Kiss Him, Not Me

Go To

  • Billing Displacement: The live-action movie cast roles for the four boys before they cast Kae. In the anime and manga, Mutsumi is usually billed the last of the four boys, but he received top billing in the film, with much of the promotional material focusing on him. In addition, LDH was clearly involved in the production, as Mutsumi is played by The Rampage From Exile Tribe member Hokuto Yoshino, while the rest of the boys are played by newbie or rookie actors.
  • Completely Different Title: "What Should I Do if I'm Popular" (the literal Japanese title) is very different from the official English title Kiss Him, Not Me. Though it does seem to have been taken from the Japanese tagline "Boys please kiss him instead of me".
  • Creator's Oddball: Junko was well-known for her Yaoi Genre works before creating this series, which is in the shoujo demographic and is aimed more at a general female audience. However, there are still a lot of references to BL and the main character is an avid Yaoi Fangirl, so it's not as big a departure as one would think.
  • Voiced Differently in the Dub: In the Japanese version, when Kae is chubby, Yuu Kobayashi gives her a very deep Heavy Voice in contrast to her higher pitched voice when she's thin. In the dub, Jeannie Tirado just uses her regular voice for Kae regardless of what her current weight is.
  • What Could Have Been: Nishina was originally supposed to be male, but Junko later decided to make her a girl.
