Trivia / Kirby's Dream Land 3

Go To

  • B-Team Sequel: As with Kirby's Dream Land 2, the game is directed by Shinichi Shimomura as opposed to Masahiro Sakurai.
  • Cowboy BeBop at His Computer: Nintendo Power magazine misidentified Ado as a boy and referred to Pon and Con as Don and Con. In their descriptions of the copy abilities, the Rick + Spark entry didn't actually say what the ability did and instead described Animal Friend mechanics in general.
  • Invisible Advertising: The game's launch wasn't advertised at all, since it released on the SNES a year after the Nintendo 64 had already hit the market.
  • Late Export for You: This game wasn't released in Europe until 2009, on the Wii Virtual Console.
  • Refitted for Sequel: Concept Art for Kirby's Dream Land 2 shows that an orca character was planned to appear in the game; however, the closest the final release gets is including a hidden poster of an orca in one room. The idea of an orca character would be revisited here in the form of Acro.
  • Short Run in Peru: The game released in North America four months before it released in Japan.
  • Shrug of God: It's never been officially confirmed whether Ado and Adeleine are the same character, with any official statements acknowledging their similarity only leaving the question up the air. For years, English-speaking fans usually assumed they were separate characters (with a common interpretation being Half-Identical Twins), while the Japanese fanbase usually assumed them to be the same; the question of their relationship was only raised in 2012's 20th Anniversary Kirby Pupupu Encyclopedia, an official Japanese artbook.
  • What Could Have Been: The filenames for the level map songs go as follows: Grass Land is K3LEVEL1, Ripple Field is K3LEVEL2, Sand Canyon is K3LEVEL4, Cloudy Park is K3LEVEL3, and Iceberg is K3LEVEL6. K3LEVEL5 is the "Mission Failed" theme. This would suggest that Cloudy Park and Sand Canyon had their spots (or at least their music) swapped, and that one level was cut while its song was repurposed. The cut level likely explains why Coo is the only Animal Friend who doesn't have a corresponding partner for a Heart Star mission.
