• Screwed by the Network: In May 2018, Valve made the surprising decision to cancel selling visual novels with sexual themes on Steam, including Kindred Spirits. The developers were given until the end of May to change the games to remove the sexual content or else be de-listed from Steam. This was despite the game being approved by Steam staff personally, and the game making headlines for making it to Steam uncensored. Valve gave no reason for this change of heart. Thankfully, due to massive outrage, and the ensuing backlash due to the fact that it was apparently caused by Moral Guardians, Valve later backed down, apologized (stating it was a mistake), and told the devs to ignore the previous warning. However, they clarified that the games can still be reviewed, causing Manga Gamer and many other Visual Novel publishers to take their games to GoG.
