- All-Star Cast: Jake T. Austin, Steve Buscemi, Laurence Fishburne, Richard E. Grant, AnnaSophia Robb, and Liam Neeson.
- Billing Displacement: Steve Buscemi, the voice of Skalk, is billed second in the advertisements after Jake T. Austin (Khumba) despite Skalk's role being quite small compared to the likes of Mama V and Bradley.
- Cowboy BeBop at His Computer: a review on Roger Ebert's website incorrectly calls Nora (Catherine Tate) Khumba's mother. Khumba's mother is actually named Lungisa and is voiced by Anika Noni Rose while Nora is a sheep who does not appear until one hour into the film.
- Extremely Lengthy Creation: Was originally announced on Triggerfish Studios' blog back in 2006 (the story was likely conceived by Anthony Silverston back in 2003) but did not enter full production until 2011.
- In Memoriam: For Professor Reinhold Rau, who initiated the Quagga Project, which aimed to breed zebras in order to bring back the extinct quagga. He died back in 2006.
